Whiter Than Snow--by Timothy A. Southall

The other day, while shoveling snow, I stopped and noticed the beauty of God's work. The day before, the grass had been brown and drab. Dead leaves were tossed around by the wind, and the trees were dreary and gray. But now everything was covered by a clean blanket of snow. The sun shone on the snow, making the entire scene glisten. Everything looked new and pure.

In the eyes of God, our sins make us look dirty and lifeless, just like the brown grass, dead leaves, and gray, dreary trees. But due to the self-sacrifice of Jesus Christ, our sins can be covered by His blood that He shed on the cross. Because of Jesus, our lives can be new . . . whiter than snow:

"Come now, let us reason together," says the Lord. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool." –Isaiah 1:18 (NIV)

Isn't it wonderful that God has provided a way for us to make our sinful lives pure again? With Jesus, we can be made whiter than snow!
