by Kimberly B. Southall It is a fine thing to be a citizen of the United
States. With our original laws founded upon biblical truth, our country
became one of great opportunity and freedom. Some say it is the greatest
country ever in the history of the earth. And that may very well be true.
But let us turn our attention to an even greater citizenship which is available
to everyone, no matter where he or she was born or now lives. Let us read
a scripture from the Bible in which Paul was writing to the Philippian
people:
Can you imagine a citizenship in heaven? Well, it is true. Such a citizenship is possible. For anyone whose Savior is Jesus Christ is a citizen of heaven. We don't live there, yet, but Christians have citizenship is in heaven. The Bible tells us that. Isn't that wonderful news!? When we place our trust in Jesus Christ and obey His plan of salvation, we become citizens of heaven. And then we have a great reason to eagerly await Jesus' return, which is what the second part of that verse is speaking about. For we know that when Jesus returns for His church, everything will be made new. There will be peace and happiness. What wonderful things to think about! Heaven . . . there could be no better citizenship. And it is all possible through Jesus Christ. Copyright © Kimberly B. Southall. All rights reserved. |
