![]() Have you ever been in total darkness before? The kind of darkness in which you can't see anything at all, even if it is right in front of your nose? If you have, then you know how difficult it would be to walk in that darkness without bumping into or falling over something. Or how hard it would be to find anything in that darkness. But if even the smallest bit of light is brought into the darkness, then we aren't "blinded" by that darkness anymore. Instead, we can see something, even if it's just a shadow. And the more light which is added, the more we are able to see-the more we are able to move about safely and the more we can see and do. There's a verse in the Bible which compares God's Word, the Bible, to
a lamp and a light:
This verse isn't talking about a regular lamp and light and a regular path we walk on, though. It is talking about how God's Word shows us the way to live our lives. Without God's Word, we are in spiritual darkness and we can't see where it is safe to go. Without God's Word, we just can't see things the way God wants us to. Without God's Word, we are spiritually blind. There's no telling what sort of trouble we might wander into by mistake without the light of God's Word. But, oh, when we add God's Word into our lives, then we begin to see! When we begin to read and learn from the Bible, we begin to see what God wants us to see. The more we read and study God's Word, the more we understand how He loves us and how He wants us to live. God's Word is the light that shows us how to live and how to make sure we have eternal life, too. Read God's Word and light up your path! Copyright © 2001 Kimberly B. Southall. All rights reserved. |
