If You Forgive--by Kimberly B. Southall

You have probably heard about the wonderful news that God will forgive you of your sins. But did you know that in order to be forgiven, you have to forgive? Yes, it's true. Jesus said this:

14"For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins."
--Matthew 6:14-15 (NIV)

Now that is something to think about, isn't it? Jesus made it very clear that if you do not forgive others, then God will not forgive you, either.

Forgiving others is not always easy, but it is the right thing to do. Actually, it is the only thing to do if you want God to forgive you, too. If you have a difficult time forgiving someone, it helps to remember this Bible verse and then to think of all the times you have needed to be forgiven. Then it doesn't seem quite so hard to forgive someone else.

Remember, Jesus said that God will forgive you only if you forgive.
