She wasn't much to look at, but she certainly had a commanding presence. In fact, there wasn't any other critter in the neighborhood that I know of which didn't respect her. It was just a matter of how each animal reached the realization that Muzzie deserved their respect.
The wiser ones probably saw it in her eyes. But the ones who weren't so wise had to be convinced. All it took for our young tom cat was a few quick smacks to the face. After that, he "toed the line" where Muzzie was concerned. As for the large dog in the neighborhood who had an appetite for Muzzie's
food . . . well, the lesson was more painful. After Muzzie jumped on his back to sharpen her claws, he always remembered that her food was off-limits. Yes, far and wide in our neighborhood, the animals respected Muzzie. The only difference was whether they reached that respect the easy way or the hard way. This is the way it is with God, too. Some of us are wise and see him for who He is without much of a fuss. And then there are those of us who take a little more convincing before we realize just Who is in charge. Sadly, though, there are even those among us who will never admit to themselves or anyone else who God
is . . . until they stand before the judgment throne. And then, even though they will bow their knees and confess Jesus Christ is Lord (Isaiah 45:23 ;Romans 14:10-12 ;Philippians 2:9-11 ), they will do it the hard way and it will be too late for their salvation. Please don't let this happen to you. Be wise. Realize that Jesus is who He says He is. Do it the easy way.Copyright © 1999 Kimberly B. Southall. All rights reserved.
