The day of September 11, 2001, will
not be forgotten. Planes were flown into the World Trade Center towers
and the Pentagon by evil men, resulting in the loss of thousands of lives.
Even with the best equipped and most mighty military in the world, the
United States was caught unaware that day.
Have you ever thought about that fateful day when
Jesus will return? Whose side will you be on? Will you be a prepared, faithful
soldier in the Lord's army or will you be caught unaware? The attack upon
the United States on September 11 will be "a drop in the bucket" in comparison
to the day when the Lord returns. When He returns, there will be no day
after, no second chance, no mourning for the dead.
14"The great day of
the Lord is near-near and coming quickly. Listen! The cry on the day of
the Lord will be bitter, the shouting of the warrior there. 15That
day will be a day of wrath, a day of distress and anguish, a day of trouble
and ruin, day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and blackness, 16a
day of trumpet and battle cry against the fortified cities and against
the corner towers. 17I will bring distress on the people and
they will walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the Lord.
Their blood will be poured out like dust and their entrails like filth.
18Neither
their silver nor their gold will be able to save them on the day of the
Lord's wrath. In the fire of his jealousy the whole world will be consumed,
for he will make a sudden end of all who live in the earth." –Zephaniah
1:14-18 (NIV) |
The Lord has given His "soldiers" clear and precise
orders on what we are to do until He returns–no
ands, ifs or buts, about it. He gave us "The Great Commission:"
18Then Jesus came
to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given
to me. 19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing
them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and
teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am
with you always, to the very end of the age."–Matthew
28:18-20 (NIV) |
We are to make disciples of all nations. This includes
those in nations we may even consider to be our enemies. The commands are
simple. We are to go and make disciples by baptizing them and teaching
them to obey everything Jesus commanded.
Must so many souls be caught unaware and perish when
the Lord returns? What are you waiting for? Get off of your pew or out
of your chair and tell others about Jesus Christ. It doesn't matter how
you do it––face-to-face,
letter, e-mail, telephone, fax, telegram, web site, etc. But do
it. The end is getting nearer with each passing moment. As Jesus commanded,
it's time to go and make disciples before it's too late. Don't be caught
unaware.
